total healthIf you have high blood pressure and want to lower it, your doctor may have suggested you take aspirin. However, to make sure the aspirin is effective, the best time to take it is at bedtime.

In a hypertension study conducted by the University of Vigo in Spain with 100 individuals—34 men and 66 women—no difference in blood pressure was found when individuals were given aspirin upon waking. However, “a highly significant blood pressure reduction was … observed in the patients who received aspirin before bedtime.” When aspirin was taken at bedtime, systolic blood pressure decreased 6 points and diastolic decreased 4 points.
