Bad Breath Cures

Bad breath, sometimes called halitosis, is caused by a combination of bacteria, food, and saliva. Some of the worst food culprits are cheese, onions, garlic, and orange juice. If you smoke, that habit can also cause bad breath, as does poor dental hygiene, gastro-intestinal disorders, and chronic constipation.

If you want to cure bad breath quick, check out these tips.

  • Brush and Floss. Make sure you perform proper and thorough oral maintenance and remove rotting food, plaque, and other debris from your mouth both morning and night. If you wear dentures allow them to soak each night in an antibacterial solution.
  • Chew on cardamom seeds. They will sweeten your breath.
  • Chew guava and its leaves. It will make your gums tighter, your breath fresher, and help prevent yellow teeth.
  • Chew gum. A dry mouth increases bacterial buildup, so if you chew sugarless gum you can keep your mouth moist and reduce bad breath.
  • Chew parsley. Parsley is rich in chlorophyll, which is natures own deodorizer.
  • Clean your tongue. When you brush your teeth, don’t neglect your tongue. Use either a tongue scraper or your toothbrush to gently scrub it clean.
  • Drink fenugreek tea. Use one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to one quart cold water and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain and drink.
  • Drink water. Sufficient water levels help reduce bad breath, so drink several large glasses of water each day.
  • Eat avocados. They are effective in helping your intestinal tract work properly and can sometimes help reduce bad breath.
  • Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. A good diet with fruits and vegetables has been shown to reduce bad breath.
  • Gargle. Gargle with either an antibacterial mouthwash, alcohol based mouth-wash, or baking soda based mouthwash every day. Doing so, can stop bad breath, sometimes for hours.
  • Gum. This is a new solution put out by Wrigley Gum. They’ve added magnolia bark extract to their gums and mints, and a 2007 study found it killed 99.9% of haitosis-causing bacteria.
  • Use Baking Soda and Lemon. This is an excellent natural remedy because the baking soda gets rid of the bacteria buildup and the lemon, mixed with water, works as an effective mouthwash.
  • Visit Your Dentist Regularly. Regular dental visits to remove plaque can significantly reduce bad breath. Dentists also have a new solution where they use low concentrations of carbamide peroxide to effectively treat chronic bad breath.
