The best way to have a healthy mane is to eat a well-balanced diet and choose foods that not only help your body but also help your hair. A healthy diet for great hair also involves ten foods, and if you eat these foods, it will show, just like it does in this picture of Rapunzel.

  1. Carrots.  You may have thought carrots were just good for your eyes, but they’re super for your scalp, and without a well-conditioned scalp, you can’t have nice, shiny hair.
  2. Dark Green Leafy Vegetables.  Kale, swiss chard, and spinach are excellent source of vitamins A and C, and these two vitamins help create the oily substance secreted by your hair follicles, known as sebum. Sebum acts as a natural hair conditioner and without it your hair is dry and brittle.
  3. Egg Yolks.  It doesn’t matter how you like your yolks, what matter is that you eat them. They are chocked full of biotin and vitamin B12, and both assist to create a vibrant, healthy mane.
  4. Kidney Beans.  Kidney beans are a high-quality protein source, and because hair is protein, without it in your diet, your hair would be thin and lackluster.
  5. Low-Fat Dairy.  Cottage cheese and yogurt are another great source of high-quality protein, and they have another advantage for your waist when you choose low-fat versions.
  6. Nuts.  Nuts are packed with zinc, and zinc reduces shedding. So, if you want to keep the hair you’ve got, eat a handful of pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, or cashews daily.
  7. Poultry.  Poultry is another good source of protein, and protein gives hair flexibility and strength so that it less likely to break or develop split ends.
  8. Oysters.  Oysters are chocked full of zinc, and they contain Omega-3s. No great head of hair exists without Omega-3s. Besides that, Omega-3s are known for their hair-growing properties, as well as their ability to speed hair growth.
  9. Salmon.  Like osyters, salmon offer Omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, salmon contains vitamin B12 and iron, and they help your body do its job more efficiently. If you’re vegetarian and want to avoid oysters or salmon, you can still get Omega-3s from flaxseed oil.
  10. Water.  Hair is one-fourth water, and without it your hair cannot be soft and supple. So, don’t wait until you’re thirsty to have a cup, drink water throughout the day and stay well hydrated, so your hair will be hydrated too.
