In a hypertension study conducted by the University of Vigo in Spain with 100 individuals—34 men and 66 women—no difference in blood pressure was found when individuals were given aspirin upon waking. However, “a highly significant blood pressure reduction was … observed in the patients who received aspirin before bedtime.” When aspirin was taken at bedtime, systolic blood pressure decreased 6 points and diastolic decreased 4 points.
