Sex is just as much a function of diet as it is desire, and if you’re not eating the right foods, you may not be enjoying those loving feelings. If you want to have an active and ultra steamy sex life, there are ten foods that may increase libido and help keep things hot and sweaty in the bedroom. They include:

  • Coffee.  Caffeine is a stimulant that supposedly arouses women mentally and physically. In fact, in a 2005 study titled, “Coffee, Tea, and Me,” researchers found it put females in the mood for sex and encourages them to want more sex.
  • Chili Peppers.  Australian scientists found capsaicin in red-hot chili peppers stimulates the hypothalamus to release euphoria-boosting endorphins, and the more endorphins you have the more likely you’ll be in the mood for sex. Additionally, the spicier the pepper the more endorphins released. Chili peppers also stimulate the nervous system and enhances those sexy feelings.
  • Dark Chocolate.  If you can’t take the red-hot hot chili pepper heat, eat dark chocolate instead. It also reportedly boosts endorphin levels and relieves stress.
  • Ginger.  Stimulates blood flow and spices up a person’s sex life. It’s also supposed to be a great food to improve erectile function.
  • Granola.  When there’s better circulation, there’s better erectile response. Granola contains L-Arginine, and studies show L-Arginine tends to improve a man’s sexual function.
  • Oysters.  Another libido food is oysters, and many people know them as an aphrodisiac. They work because they are rich in zinc, and zinc is a key nutrient needed for libido and sperm production.
  • Peanuts.  Peanuts are a great source of niacin and contain 10.5 mg to 1/2 cup. Niacin is needed to dilate blood vessels. It also creates a flush and improves blood flow, so there’s more sexual arousal and greater stimulation.
  • Soy.  Soy may help both men and women sexually. It reportedly helps men because it benefits the prostate, and it may help women because it combats menopausal symptoms and boosts vaginal lubrication.   • Watermelon.  Watermelon is also often considered a libido food. It seems to work because it has a phytonutrient called citrulline, and citrulline relaxes and dilates blood vessels just like Viagra does.
  • Wheat Germ Oil.  Vitamin E is often referred to as the “sex vitamin,” and wheat germ oil is the greatest source of vitamin E. Vitamin E works as a libido food because it often creates a strong erectile response.

  1. Hey Geri! Love your article. I will be saving this one for later ;-). But I have a question and maybe you can point me in the right direction. You mentioned Soy. I use to drink soy milk but decide to switch to almond milk instead because on a radio show said it was better for you. I know it taste better! Any benefits there?

  2. Very helpful indeed! I keep away from Soy myself though because it makes me really weird and moody. It’s nowhere near as good for you as people tend to think it is, either, because it’s very heavily processed.
